ASEB continue winning run

GUWAHATI, Aug 26 � ASEB Sports Club continued their winning run in the RG Baruah Super Division Football League.

On a slushy Nehru Stadium ground here today, ASEB Sports Club earned a thrilling 3-1 victory against defending champions NF Railway Sports Club. It was ASEB�s fourth consecutive victory and are at the top of the table with Green Valley Sports Club pocketing 13 points each.

Ramsang Liana opened the account for ASEB converting a spot kick in the fourth minute. Following a hand by a Railway defender inside the box, referee Jehrul Islam awarded a spot kick to ASEB. But after the break, the scoreline was levelled as ASEB conceded a self goal in the 49th minute. ASEB defender Biswanath Karmakar put the ball into his own goal off a melee after a flag kick.

However, the matured ASEB frontliners kept their cool and took the lead in the 66th minute. William Gangte beautifully set the ball for Sanjoy Boro and the latter beat the opponent custodian NI Singh with a sharp grounder. In the extended time, Jessy Vanlalmuana rounded the tally with another beautiful goal. It was William again who unleashed a shot but the ball hit the cross piece. Jessy followed the ball properly and put it into the goal.

The NF Railway team also created several openings but failed to beat ASEB goalkeeper Daoga Brahma who was in terrific form today.

Rajbari play draw against SAI: Rajbari Athletic Club and SAI Sports Club played a 6-6 draw in the Jibeswar Goswami A Division Football League. The result scented some foul play as both the teams needed maximum goals to topple Rising XI in the table.
