ASEB beat Assam Rifles, enter final

MANGALDAI, Oct 6 - Custodian ASEB Foot Club, Guwahati, Dawga Brahma made two spectacular saves in the penalty shootout and helped his team beat Assam Rifles, Shillong 5-4 via sudden death to reach the final of the 36th Amba Medhi Prize Money Invitational Football Tournament here today. In the first semifinal at the Mangaldai Stadium both the former champions of the tournament failed to perform according to their reputation and the match locked goal less draw in the regulation time. In the penalty shoot out the right footer from ASEB skipper Sanjoy Boro went wide of the target but Dawga brought them back into the match as he dived to his left to save the shot of L Chanta Singh of the Rifles. After the tie breaker also ended 4-4 draw, the sudden death came into play where Dawga saved the volley from B Das of the Rifles while ASEB striker Jwmbla Brahma made no mistake and gave his team the much needed 5-4 goals victory for a final berth.
