ITANAGAR, April 3 - Arunachal Pradesh Governor JP Rajkhowa has condemned the alleged murder of a student from the State in Assam and urged the government of the neighbouring State to ensure all steps to provide security to the Arunachalee people.
The Governor also demanded that Assam Police thoroughly investigate the death of the youth and bring the culprits to justice at the earliest, a Raj Bhawan communique said on Saturday.
The mutilated body of 24-year-old Zilla Taku was found under mysterious circumstances in Guwahati on March 23. Taku hails from Bana in East Kameng district.
Rajkhowa requested his family members, friends and relatives to assist and cooperate for a speedy police investigation and requested the Assam Government to extend ex-gratia to his family.
In view of the seriousness of the case, the Governor felt that it should be immediately referred to the CID by Assam Government and the scope for a CBI inquiry should be kept open, the communique said. PTI
