Arunachal urges for timely supply of textbooks

ITANAGAR, Dec 26 � While apprising the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) officials of non-availability of textbooks in the State, Arunachal Pradesh Education Minister Bosiram Siram has urged NCERT for timely supply of textbooks.

Siram while addressing the 49th General Council meeting of NCERT in New Delhi also pleaded the NCERT to avoid mid-term price hikes, official sources said here.

Stating that Arunachal Pradesh has decided to upgrade the State Institute of Education (SIE) into State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT), Siram urged the Union HRD ministry and the NCERT to pay special focus on the newly created SCERT for its expansion and strengthening by extending financial, technical and academic support.

He also informed that the State would introduce teacher eligibility test (TET) � a prerequisite for recruitment of �quality� teacher soon. � PTI
