By Correspondent

ITANAGAR, Feb 15 A holistic State Sports Policy is on the anvil to cater to the needs of sports infrastructure and to recognise meritorious sports persons in Arunachal, said Chief Minister Nabam Tuki while inaugurating the 2nd T20 Night Cricket Tournament at Jairampur in Changlang district yesterday.

The Chief Minister said the State Government has earmarked Rs 20 crore for creation of sports infrastructure like outdoor and indoor stadiums across the State. He further said that his government has already decided to keep 10 per cent of jobs reserved under the sports quota for recruitment in the State police force.

Sports can be a great messenger for peace and brotherhood, the Chief Minister said adding sports activities have the power to keep the youths from straying away from the mainstream.

Tuki also announced an amount of Rs 5 crore under NEC for construction of a stadium and another Rs 1 crore for construction of a convention hall in Jairampur sub-division during next financial year.

He also assured to consider the demand for establishment of a polytechnic college at Jairampur and a nursing institute at Nampong under public-private partnership model next year.
