Arunachal reports one new COVID-19 case, tally at 16,838

Itanagar, Mar 3: One more person tested positive for COVID-19 in Arunachal Pradesh, taking the tally in the northeastern state to 16,838, a senior health department official said on Wednesday.

The fresh case from Tirap district was detected through a rapid antigen test, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said. A CRPF staffer, who had recently returned from West Bengal, was diagnosed with the disease, the SSO said,
adding he was asymptomatic.

Arunachal Pradesh currently has two active cases, while 16,780 people have recovered from the disease and 56 died. Altogether, 4,06,705 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, including 523 on Tuesday, and the positivity ratio stands at 0.02 per cent, Jampa said. Meanwhile, State Immunisation Officer Dimong Padung said over 32,000 health and frontline workers have received
vaccine shots in the state thus far.

The health department has been carrying out the inoculation drive four days a week - Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
