Arunachal Police constables arrested

HALEM, May 26 � Tabu Dayan and Hatpang Lahun, both constables of Arunachal Pradesh Police were apprehended by forest personnel at Singlijan in Behali Reserve Forest recently for carrying timber in a departmental truck.

The truck was first stopped by the public while it was on its way. There were 45 logs of Karoi timber, besides other wood.

According to Tabu Dayan, they bought the logs from one Taba Tagin, a timber smuggler at a cost of Rs 4,000 though the actual cost of the logs would not be less than Rs 80,000 to Rs 90,000, according to the Forest Department staff.

The two arrested persons, including the truckload of timber were subsequently seized and taken to Bargang Range under Sonitpur district.
