Arunachal opens helpline for citizens stranded in Assam

ITANAGAR, Dec 12 - The Arunachal Pradesh Government has launched a 24x7 helpline to assist the people of the State stranded in Assam due to the ongoing stir against the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, which was passed by the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. The State Government also issued an advisory, asking its natives to avoid travelling along the Assam roads till the return of normalcy.

�Due to the ongoing situation in Assam, everyone is advised not to travel through Assam by road till normalcy returns,� stated the advisory. It added that anyone requiring police help can contact SPs Tumme Amo at 9436040006, Prashant Priya Gautam at 9999700000 or Navdeep Singh Brar at 9915912113.

The East Siang Deputy Commissioner, Dr Kinny Singh, has also issued an advisory for public safety, cautioning commuters to refrain from travelling through Assam routes in view of the prevailing situation in the neighbouring State.

�In view of the present situation prevailing in the State of Assam, it is hereby advised to all the general public/commuters/vehicles travelling from East Siang district towards Assam to refrain from moving/entering the peripheral jurisdiction of Assam through check gates,� it said and added, �if any commuter still insists to ignore the advisory, it would be their sole personal responsibility�.

The Deputy Commissioner of West Siang district has also issued a travel advisory, asking all passengers to consult the district SP, ADC and officer-in-charge of the Aalo Police Station before venturing out via Assam.
