Arunachal MLAs to take oath on June 3

ITANAGAR, May 30 - All the newly-elected MLAs of the 60-member Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly will take oath on Monday next. State Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (retd) today summoned the first session of the 7th Legislative Assembly for a two-day sitting on the State Assembly premises here.

�The Governor has, under provisions of Article 174 (1) of the Constitution of India, summoned the first session of Seventh Legislative Assembly to meet on June 3 and 4 from 10 am in the Assembly Hall of Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly,� a press note from the Assembly Secretariat stated.

On the first day, all the newly-elected members, including 20 first-time MLAs, will take oath. It will be followed by the election of the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker.

The elections to the 60-member Arunachal House were held simultaneously with the Lok Sabha polls on April 11 last.

The pro-tem Speaker (who is yet to be sworn in by the Governor) will chair the first session of the 7th Legislative Assembly and administer the oath of office to the newly-elected members.

The Governor will address the House on the second day. The House will also take up an obituary reference in respect of late Tirong Aboh, Khonsa West MLA, who fell victim to the bullets of suspected Naga militants on May 21 last.
