Arunachal House pays homage to Vajpayee

ITANAGAR, Aug 27 - Arunachal Pradesh Assembly led by Speaker Tenzing Norbu Thongdok on Monday paid tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who passed away on August 16.

Recalling his outstanding contributions to the nation, the Speaker said late Vajpayee became the first non-Congress PM to complete a full term. �He was a man of determination and commitment, and Pokhran II test was the example of his strong mind,� he said.

Thongdok added, �In his passing away, India has lost a great statesman, a thinker, a reformer, a poet and a charismatic leader.�

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein said the former Prime Minister had dedicated his entire life for the cause of the nation. He further said, people of North East will ever remember late Vajpayee for creating a separate Ministry for development of the region � Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region.

Later, the Assembly observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed leader, before the Speaker adjourned the House for the day.
