Arunachal Health Minister Jomde Kena dies at 52

ITANAGAR, Sept 5 - Arunachal Pradesh Health and Family Welfare Minister Jomde Kena passed away at a Guwahati-based hospital following a prolonged illness.

The 52-year-old lawmaker from West Siang district was undergoing treatment at the hospital where he breathed his last around�9.05 pm�last night. He leaves behind his wife and five children.

A three-time MLA from Likabali Assembly Constituency since 2004, Kena had held the post of Deputy Speaker of Arunachal Pradesh Legislative

Assembly during the Nabam Tuki Government. He had previously served as a Parliamentary Secretary under the Dorjee Khandu and Jarbom Gamlin Ministry.

The mortal remains was flown back to Naharlagun helipad today and then to his hometown, Gensi in West Siang, where his last rites will

be performed�tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the State Government has declared a two-day State mourning from today as a mark of respect to the departed soul. Moreover, the State Government has decided to accord State funeral to the departed soul and all offices, Government undertakings, educational institutions will remain closed tomorrow on the day of funeral.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled the death of Jomde Kena. The Prime Minister, an official statement expressed his grief on the demise of Kena and extended condolences to his family and supporters.

Governor P B Acharya and Chief Minister Pema Khandu have condoled the death of the Minister. The Chief Minister in his message , said �It was a great loss for the State and his contributions will always be remembered.
