ITANAGAR, Nov 3 Conceding that the NE region including Arunachal Pradesh has suffered a lot from under-development and a sense of alienation over the years, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju has observed that the road to development in Arunachal Pradesh has a long way to go and said, for this to happen, we must not waste time but to work with sincerity.

Just like our hardworking Prime Minister, we must come at par with other States, said Rijiju in his speech while flagging off the Run for Unity at Kalaktang in West Kameng district of the State on the birth anniversary of first Home Minister of the country Sardar Vallabhbai Patel which is celebrated as Rashtriya Ekta Divas.

The MoS, who hails from the strategically located frontier State, appealed to the people to refrain from divisive politics and work with team Arunachal spirit for its inclusive growth. He also spelt out his endeavours for uplifting the social sector including skill development of educated unemployed youth and provision of scholarship for them.

He said he was committed for inclusive development of North East with specific interest on Arunachal Pradesh and reiterated his promise to get all villages of Arunachal connected with roads by the year 2019, saying efforts have been made to relax population criteria for road construction in the State.

He further urged the people to change their mindset to bring systemic change to make Arunachal a corruption-free State. He said his new brand of politics would mean clean politics free of corruption. He also said that to bring the region close to the national mainstream, efforts are being made to include NE region in the syllabus of NCERT.
