By Correspondent

ITANAGAR, Aug 13 - Arunachal Pradesh Governor JP Rajkhowa has called for a high level inquiry into the fatal crash of Pawan Hans helicopter in Tirap district that claimed the lives of IAS officer Kamlesh Joshi and two pilots.

A high level inquiry needs to be instituted under the Commissions of Inquiry Act, preferably headed by a High Court Judge, at the earliest in order to unearth the causes of the accident to fix responsibilities, if any, and to recommend corrective measures, which should be taken under a time frame, to prevent such tragic accidents in future, said the Governor while expressing concern over recurrence of such incidents involving Pawan Hans choppers. Rajkhowa noted, given the chopper crashes in Arunachal Pradesh in the recent past propel one to question the dependability and credibility of the services of Pawan Hans Helicopter Limited (PHHL).

In view of repeated accidents of Pawan Hans helicopters, corrective measures should have been taken by both the private aviation company and the State Government by now.

The Governor also urged the State Government, PHHL and the Central Government to extend adequate relief and compensation to the bereaved families.
