Arunachal Guv to attend city elders meet

GUWAHATI, Aug 25 - Jyoti Prasad Rajkhowa, Governor of Arunachal Pradesh will highlight the importance of promoting sociocultural and economic relationship among the people of the northeastern states in general and those of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh in particular at the 15th foundation day of the Guwahati Senior Citizens Association to be held at 3 pm on August 27 at the Pandit Tirthanath Sarma Bhawan, Chandmari here.

The meeting, which will be held under the presidentship of senior journalist DN Chakravartty, will felicitate nonagenarian scholars Dr Pramod Chandra Bhattacharya and Prof Upendra Nath Sarma, and octogenarian social worker and retired director of health services Dr Malati Baruah. Dr Banikanta Sarma, Khanindra Chandra Das, Uttam Chandra Baruah and Dr Jogendra Nath will be felicitated on their being selected for literary pension, while Eli Ahmed will be felicitated on her getting the Sahitya Akademi Award.
