Arunachal Guv for special tourism schemes

ITANAGAR, Feb 13 - Advocating for harnessing the State�s tourism potential, Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) has urged the Centre for �special� schemes under the �Act East� policy so that the tourists and local entrepreneurs benefit from it.

A Raj Bhavan release here said that the Governor met Union Minister of State for Tourism KJ Alphons at New Delhi on Wednesday and discussed various innovative ways to harness the tourism potential of Arunachal Pradesh.

The Governor, who foresees the tourism sector as one of the prime avenues for employment generation and enhancing the State�s revenue, emphasised on leaving no stone unturned to harness State�s full potential. He called for special schemes under Act East policy so that the tourists and local entrepreneurs in the sector benefit from it.

Highlighting the efforts of the State Government towards promotion of tourism in the State, he requested the Union Minister to assist the State with an aim to develop the areas having tourism potential.

The Governor, who recently chaired a meeting of Tourism officials to discuss on the concept paper for development of Parshuram Kund in Lohit district of Arunachal Pradesh, briefed Alphons about the project. Assuring that the State Government will ensure every paisa provided for the project will be spent as purposed, the Governor impressed upon the MoS on the importance of the proposal and its implementation.
