Arunachal Guv, CM greet people on Buddha Purnima

ITANAGAR, April 29 - Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) and Chief Minister Pema Khandu today conveyed their heartiest greetings to the people of the State on the eve of Buddha Purnima that commemorates the birth, enlightenment and mahaparinirbana of Lord Gautam Buddha.

In his message, the Governor said that one of the greatest spiritual teachers of mankind, Gautam Buddha had enlightened us through his teachings and shown the path of truth and eternal values of truth and non-violence. �May this propitious occasion promote and propagate Lord Buddha�s message for the enduring wellbeing of the society,� the Governor wished.

A Buddhist himself, CM Khandu said Buddha Jayanti is always an important day in the lives of Buddhists but Buddha Purnima holds specific importance as it falls on a full moon day considered truly holy.

�May the full moon of Buddha Purnima take away the darkness of ignorance, bigotry and hatred and herald an era of contentment, peace and enlightenment for the world!� Khandu added.
