ITANAGAR, Nov 30 - Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (retd) and Chief Minister Pema Khandu have extended their greetings to the people of the State on the occasion of the Indigenous Faith Day, to be celebrated on December 1.
In his message, the Governor said that celebration of the Indigenous Faith Day enlightens the faith keepers and instils virtue in them. Tolerance, compassion, kindness, and will to sacrifice for the common good are manifestations of the indigenous faith, he said.
Expressing the hope that the occasion would further strengthen the bonds of the State�s composite culture and belief, the Governor said that �the Faith Day inspires us to preserve and promote our ethnical values and identity�.
Reminding everyone that �loss of culture is loss of identity�, Chief Minister Khandu asserted the necessity to preserve the distinct indigenous identities of the various tribes of the State lest these are lost forever.
�On this occasion, I reiterate my message for propagation and use of indigenous languages by members of respective communities. Our indigenous languages are the strongest connect with our culture and if we lose them we will lose touch with our respective culture. Therefore, on this special day, I call upon all parents and elders to inculcate in their wards the habit of speaking in their mother tongue at least at home,� the Chief Minister added.
