Arunachal Guv bats for Puroik community

ITANAGAR, April 20 - Arunachal Pradesh Governor PB Acharya has called upon the people of the State to work with the spirit of �Sabke Saath, Sabka Vikas� towards addressing the �challenges� of every section of the society.

Expressing concern for the Puroik community, the Governor called recently for expediting the constitution of the �Puroik Autonomous Welfare Board� as per the two Government Committee reports.

He wished that the State Cabinet and concerned officers go to the details of the High Powered Committee reports regarding Puroik community. �As the Gauhati High Court has already made specific ruling on the issue, the recommendations of the two High Powered Committee reports have to be implemented as early as possible,� he stated.

Apart from suggesting composition of the Board, which according to him should have seven members from the community, including three from elders of the community, two from younger generations and two other woman members, the Governor, while referring to his address in the Assembly on March 6 last, has also written to the Chief Minister advocating early constitution of the seven-member autonomous body.

�We have to provide opportunities to the Puroik community so as to enable them come up at par with other communities. It is high time that we come out of our earlier suppressive and superiority mindset,� the Governor opined.

As an initiative from his side, the Governor has initiated �Home Stay� for 20 Puroik youths to Mumbai with free accommodation and tuition for a three-year nursing course for four Puroik students in the Alva�s Education Foundation, Moodubidire, Karnataka through India National Fellowship Centre, Mumbai.

The State Government will be the facilitator and bear the annual to and fro journeys and part of food charges, said a communiqu� from the Governor�s Secretariat here yesterday.
