Arunachal Guv advocates against poppy cultivation

ITANAGAR, Jan 29 - Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (retd) visited Longding today. In his maiden visit to the district as the Head of the State, the Governor interacted with government officials, panchayat members, gaon burhas, etc., stated a press release.

The Governor emphasised on security, health and education. He said for development, there must be sense of security and peaceful environment.

Mishra stated that gun culture has never benefited anyone. He urged upon the people to take steps to bring back the misguided youth to the mainstream.

Strongly advocating against poppy cultivation, the Governor said drug addiction is destroying the whole society.

He urged upon the people to stop poppy cultivation, while suggesting alternative cash crop programmes.

Later the Governor left for Khonsa, the district headquarters of Tirap district.
