By Correspondent

ITANAGAR, June 20 - Acting tough against encroachers of forest land, officials of Forest department in Arunachal Pradesh along with a large contingent of police personnel on Saturday carried out a demolition drive at Tenga Pani Reserve Forest in Namsai district adjacent to Diyun Circle of Changlang district.

Despite protests from the encroachers, especially the women, who armed with sharp edged weapons offered stiff resistance, the team evicted more than 15 houses.

It was reported that Chakmas had allegedly encroached upon Reserve Forest area and built houses over there and were refusing to clear the encroachments despite notices from the local administration.

When authorities tried to evict them, the encroachers offered stiff resistance. However, with the presence of large number of security personnel and Forest officials, the team managed to get the encroachers evicted. DFO Namsai, Rina Riba said, No further encroachment irrespective of tribes will be tolerated in the area.
