GUWAHATI, March 14: Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Chowna Mein has laid stress on highlighting the virgin tourist spots of the State to promote tourism in a big way.

Stating that Arunachal Pradesh has a lot of potential, especially in adventure tourism, Mein underscored the need to focus on the ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ initiative for promotion of tourism in the State.

He also flagged-in ‘Honda Sunchasers 2021-H’ness Quest for the Land of the Rising Sun’ motorcycle rally at Kongmukham (Golden Pagoda) at Namsai, stated a press release.

Mein exuded confidence that the motorcycle rally would boost tourism and attract more adventure lovers to explore the unexplored places in the pristine State.

He said that Arunachal Pradesh has huge potential to become one of the best tourist destinations in the country and the State government is putting all efforts to achieve it.

He lauded the efforts and initiative of the State Department of Tourism and Honda Motorcycles for organising the mega motorcycle rally to promote the State as one of the best motorcycle riding destinations.

“I am thankful to the Union Ministry of Tourism and the State Department of Tourism for sponsoring the motorbike rally to eastern Arunachal under ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ as this part of the State is little known to the tourists and needs more exposure and promotion,” Mein said.

He informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his address to the nation on August 15, 2020, had called upon the avid travellers of the country to visit and explore the tourist places in our own country in addition to foreign destinations.

Mein added that in order to turn the Prime Minister’s call into reality, the Ministry of Tourism has come up with the scheme, ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ under which it has appealed to travellers to visit at least 15 destinations across the country and upload their photographs in the website to inspire others.

He informed that to encourage the travellers, the ministry will give incentives in the form of rewards to those who visit at least 15 tourist places across the country.

Mein said there is no dearth of tourist places in the State, which is blessed with scenic beauty, diverse cultures, delicious cuisines and biodiversity.

“Such inter-State travel will also strengthen brotherhood, bring us closer to one another and give us an opportunity to know each other well through cultural exchange,” said Mein. In the long run, it will further strengthen the spirit of nationalism and oneness, he added.

The motorcycle rally traversed through Pasighat, Bomjir, Tezu (Parsuram Kund), Miao, Namdapha and Pangsau Pass covering a distance of 800 km before culminating at Namsai.

The motorcycle rally, comprising 15 riders, was flagged-off at Ruksin in East Siang District.

The today’s flagging-in ceremony was also attended by Namsai MLA Chau Zingnu Namchoom, Lekang MLA Jummum Ete Deori, Namsai DC RK Sharma, Namsai SP DW Thungon, among others.
