Art, craft exhibition by special children

GUWAHATI, Dec 3 � In a laudable attempt to showcase the knowhow of a number of physically challenged people, Karunadhara � a trust formed early this year � has organised an exhibition of arts, crafts, and natural products at Bishnu Nirmala Bhawan, Uzan Bazar.

The two-day event, started today, displays products made by the physically challenged who have come from various parts of Assam. The exhibition, open from 11 am to 3 pm, was inaugurated by Justice (retd) DN Choudhury.

With its opening coinciding with International Day of Persons with Disabilities, observed on December 3, the exhibition has attracted a number of visitors.

Several other organisations have collaborated with Karunadhara in organizing the event, which include Ashadeep, Maria�s Public School, Mon Vikash Kendra, Atma Nirbhar, Prerona, Swabalambi, and Mrinaljyoti Rehabilitation Centre.

Meanwhile, Destination, an NGO, working for the welfare of mentally and physically challenged persons, also observed the day at its school premises in Guwahati, a press release stated. A host of programmes, including recitation and exhibition of hand-made items made by the special children, were also organised on the occasion.

A tribute was also paid by the children to Dr Bhupen Hazarika.
