IMPHAL, Nov 5 � An army man was killed when suspected militants exploded a hand grenade at a Territorial Army post near here on Monday night, sources said.

Police said suspected militants lobbed a hand grenade at the A company post of Territorial Army at Koirengei, 8 km from here.

Lance Naik Jagga Singh of 107 Engineer Regiment was killed in the explosion, sources added. A combined police and army team recovered an unexploded hand grenade near the Army post in the follow up operation on Tuesday.

The army authority in Manipur gave a military honour to the departed soul at Tulihal airport yesterday prior to sending the body to his native village in Punjab.

On Monday, Assam Rifles troops recovered seven hand grenades from the possession of a woman during a routine frisking at Khudengthabi, about 100 km from Imphal. The arrested woman has been identified as Kinilei (33) of Lamlai in Imphal East district.
