Army organizes mega ex-servicemen rally

GUWAHATI, Dec 11 - A mega ex-servicemen rally was organized by Blazing Sword Division of Gajraj Corps today at Balipara in Sonitpur district of Assam, a defence statement said.

It was attended by over 1,200 ex-servicemen, their dependents and veer naris hailing from Sonitpur and Biswanath Chariali districts of Assam. The rally, organised in association with the district administration and Rajya Sainik Board, focused on the resolution of anomalies in disbursement of pension to the veterans and veer naris and rendering assistance to them in land and other legal cases. Representatives of Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), District Sainik Welfare Board, State Bank of India, Ex-Servicemen Cell of station headquarters Tezpur, Jaipur Foot Association, Deputy Commissioner�s office, Soldier Board, Assam Regimental Records Cell and office of the Superintendent of Police attended the rally to address the grievances of the veterans and veer naris and extend assistance to them. The veterans were apprised of resettlement schemes, second employment avenues and assistance in re-employment facilitated by Army Welfare Placement Organization (AWPO).

Maj Gen Alok Raj, GOC, Blazing Sword Division addressed the participants and recalled the invaluable services rendered by the ex-servicemen and supreme sacrifice made by the martyrs.
