AGARTALA, Nov 30 - After Shambu Satmura, a BSF jawan, another Army jawan from a remote area of Tripura was martyred at Jammu and Kashmir while battling against Pakistan-backed militants.

Chittaranjan Debbarma (37) of Dwringbari under Kalyanpur police station was among the seven martyrs of terror attack at Nagrota camp in J&K on Tuesday. Four militants were also killed in the four-hour long gun battle at Nagrota, an important defence installation in Jammu region.

Around 6.25 pm, Chittaranjan made a call to his brother-in-law at home amidst sound of gun battle and told him that Nagrota camp was under attack by heavily armed militants. I am under heavy fire and pray for me!, said Namita Debbarma, wife of Chittaranjan in teary voice, quoting her husbands words.

She continued, Before he could say something more, Chittaranjans cell phone turned dead! And, then we made several attempts to contact him but failed.

Namita, a mother of two, added, I know I have to live without him but he has made us proud as he laid down his life while battling against Pakistan-sponsored terrorists.

A pall of gloom descended in Dwringbari, a remote village of Tripuras Khowai district following the tragic death of Chittaranjan.

Whatever my father has done for the nation, we are proud of that and pray for his eternal peace, said Intek, who is studying in a local English medium school.

Villagers regard Chittaranjans family as Army family as his elder brother was also in the Army. In fact, inspired by the style of his brother, Chittaranjan had joined the Army and rose to the rank of Naik.

MLA Padma Debbarma rushed to the martyrs house and expressed deep sorrow. His body is expected to reach his native village tomorrow and would be cremated with full honours, he said.

Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has condoled the supreme sacrifice of Chittaranjan. He is a great soldier of Tripura in true sense and I pray for his eternal peace, he said in a condolence message.
