Arms recovered from train, woman among 3 held

AGARTALA, May 29 - A woman was apprehended from the Dharmanagar-Agartala passenger train here today, and five pistols and live ammunition were recovered from her. Two men, who had arrived at the Agartala Railway Station to receive the woman, were also detained by RPF jawans.

The woman has been identified as Shila Rani Chakma, a resident of Nutan Bazar area of Gomati district.

Chakma, who is in her late thirties, was on her way from Dharmanagar to Agartala in the local train when RPF jawans checked her compartment. During the search, the jawans recovered five pistols and live bullets.

Chakma told her interrogators that she was asked to carry the arms by two persons, Lawrence Debbarma of Golaghati and Dilip Debbarma of Takarjala in Sepahijala district.

When the train stopped at the Agartala Railway Station, Lawrence and Dilip came to receive her. RPF jawans who were on alert detained all of them, said an RPF official here.
