By SPL correspondent

NEW DELHI, May 17 - Arindam Saikia of Golaghat and team Polaris won Raid de Himalaya 2018 and Indian Baja 2018 championship.

The Rally was flagged off from DLF place, Saket, here on May 7 and covered 2500 km. Its a test between man and machine against the nature in the Thar Desert of Rajasthan where summer has set in and temperature will get to 50 degree plus in the cockpit of the rally car, said Saikia.

The expectation was high from the car to perform in the rally after doing few test with heating and cooling system of the car. The first day of the rally SS1 the car stopped in 7 km having lot of heating issues and lost almost 1 hour and 30 min in 44 km stage which cost me the whole rally. But I managed to come out of the stage and get the service, but lost my position and had to overtake 4 to 5 cars in every stage to cover the loss. I managed to click two fast stages SS7 and SS8 and came second in T3 category. It was really an amazing learning experience for me, said Saikia.
