APWU submits memo to Pradyut Bordoloi

NAMRUP, June 19 � A group of delegates from the Namrup-based Assam Petrochemicals Ltd Workers� Union headed by Ranjit Gogoi as president and Paban Handique as general secretary met the State Cabinet Minister of Industries, Commerce and Power Pradyut Bordoloi during his visit to Namrup on June 14 and submitted a memorandum seeking his kind intervention over the following issues.

As APL is contemplating to set up a new methanol expansion project of 500 TPD capacity, considering the viability of the existing plants which would require a huge sum of money to transform the dream into reality, hence the memo requested the Govt to sanction a substantial amount for the said new expansion project.

Secondly, the memo urged upon the State Govt to take proper initiative so that APL would be able to get exemption from the high-rocketing price of domestic natural gas and to enjoy reduced price for its survival.

The Minister in turn gave a patient hearing to the delegates and assured them to do anything within his official capacity for the greater good of Assam Petrochemicals Ltd, Namrup, a press release issued by Paban Handique, GS of APWU said.
