DERGAON, July 24 - Armed Police Training Centre (APTC) Dergaon emer-ged champions of the inaugural edition of the Guna Kanta Sarmah Baruah Memorial Football Tournament organised by the Dergaon Veteran Sports Association.

In the keenly contested final played at Dergaon HS School playground here today, APTC defeated 4H Club of Golaghat 5-4 in tie breaker as the match ended in a 2-2 draw in regulation time. In the tournament Dinesh Boro of APTC was adjudged as the best player while Gaurav Deka of APTC walked away with the best goal keeper trophy. Pankaj Bordoloi of APTC bagged the best scorer award while Santanu Chutia and Dipankar Mushahari of 4H Club, Golaghat were declared as the best defender and man of the match respectively.

The champion team received a cash award of Rs. 30,000 while the runners up team had to be content with Rs. 20,000 along with a running trophy.
