Appeal to free WWF volunteers

KOKRAJHAR, Feb 9 � Taking a serious note over recent incidents of violence in Bodoland and more particularly following the abduction of WWF volunteers working in wildlife conservation from Kokrajhar district, State Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma has today said that the �NDFB must abjure the path of violence and come forward for peace talks.�

He also appealed that the three other volunteers of WWF should be released unhurt. He has also indicated possibility of peace talks with NDFB within a short period if the outfit abstains from violence, he said.

Meanwhile, PK Dutta, SP, Kokrajhar said that the police has been mounting pressure on the group involved in the abduction of WWF volunteers from Ultapani in Kokrajhar on February 6 last. He has also mentioned that the security forces has intensified joint efforts for early release of the three other members while officials of WWF and BTC authority are also persuading on their own in this regard.�
