Guwahati, Jan 29: An MoU was signed between the Government of Assam and the State Bank of India on Wednesday through which the Apon Ghar Scheme has been extended till March 31, 2021 with 1 per cent interest subvention.

Apon Ghar is an interest subvention scheme for housing loan for regular State government employees by the State Government of Assam facilitated by the State Bank of India.

The MoU was signed by SBI AGM Varun Kumar and Fulbar Ali, Deputy Secretary, Finance (Audit and Fund), Assam Government.

This scheme was first launched by the Government of Assam for the State government employees in 2017. The total number of beneficiaries till date is 26,691 with a total loan amount of Rs 3540 crore.
