GUWAHATI, Feb 14 � The Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd (APDCL), a successor company of the Assam State Electricity Board (ASEB), has requested the State Government to extend an assistance to it for clearing an arrear amount of around Rs 400 crore to the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO), the Power Grid Corporation and the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC).
Disclosing this, ASEB sources said that due to hike in the power tariff of the above Central sector power companies, the APDCL has to pay the above amount as arrear against the power it had purchased since April 2009. The State Government has been requested to make budgetary allocations for the purpose of clearing this arrear amount, sources said.
