NEW DELHI, June 18 The proposed revamp of the Assam PCC is on the cards, as Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and AICC general secretary in-charge for Assam, Digvijay Singh held a meeting to sort out the issue.

The AICC general secretary met the Chief Minister last evening and held discussion to constitute the PCC executive, office-bearers and disciplinary committees.

The appointment of some of the vital committees remained pending because of the elections. Now we are going ahead and planning to appoint the new committees shortly,

When asked about the appointment of Parliamentary Secretaries, Gogoi clarified that he can do it on his own and he does not require prior clearance from the AICC.

Gogoi, over the last few days, had held several rounds of consultations with PCC president Bhubaneswar Kalita and the two have reportedly finalise draft lists of names.

The Chief Minister, meanwhile, is waiting to meet Congress president Sonia Gandhi to seek another berth in the Central ministry.

Gogoi is under pressure from different lobbies to secure another ministerial berth in Manmohan Singhs Council of Ministers.

The INTUC delegation is currently in the capital meeting central leaders demanding inclusion of Lok Sabha MP, Paban Singh Ghatowar in the central ministry.
