APCC plea to CM over State Budget

GUWAHATI, March 1 � The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has appealed to Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi to include schemes in his next Budget for removal of various problems of the State.

In a memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister, the APCC has called for steps to empower women by extending grants to their self-help groups, various schemes and allocations to generate self-employment and skill development of unemployed youths, schemes to distribute mosquito nets and blankets among poor families, special schemes for workers engaged in the unorganised sector and schemes to distribute solar lamps among the students of those areas which are not yet covered by electrification schemes.

The APCC has also called for steps to include special schemes to provide Indira Awas Yojana houses, special schemes for those who are affected by wild elephants, special schemes for unmarried girls and widows, among others.
