APCC lambasts Rijiju over BTC funding

By Correspondent

MANGALDAI, April 5 APCC media in charge and former State Cabinet Minister, Ripun Bora on Friday claimed that the ruling Congress will get an absolute majority and will form the BTC Government. He was addressing the media here in the afternoon after participating in election campaign rallies for the party candidates in various territorial constituencies in Udalguri district.

Expressing great hope over the partys performance in the forthcoming election, the APCC leader claimed that the party will win more than 25 seats out of the total 40 seats which includes six seats in Udalguri district itself. Meanwhile, Ripun Bora strongly criticised the statement made by the Union Home Minister of State, Kiren Rijiju in an election rally in Kokrajhar on Thursday that the Central Government would release funds directly to the BTC, if people vote the BJP to power in the ensuing election, as misleading, baseless and unconstitutional.

Bora reiterated that under the Sixth Schedule, there is no constitutional provision to sanction fund to any agency ignoring the concerned State Government. He also sought the interference of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to control his ministers over their false and misleading public comments.

The APCC, media incharge was also accompanied by Chandan Barua, chief organiser, Asom Pradesh Seva Dal among other party office bearers. With only couple of days left for campaign, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi addressed election rallies in some BTAD constituencies under Mazabat LAC on Saturday.
