APCC hails NIA probe into BTAD killings

GUWAHATI, May 4 � The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has welcomed the decision to hand over the investigation into the recent BTAD killings to the NIA and called upon the State government to seize illegal weapons.

This view emerged during a meeting of the APCC here yesterday, said a press release.

�The meeting of APCC held at the Rajiv Bhawan unanimously condemned the post-election violence and brutal and dastardly attack on innocent people in Kokrajhar and Baksa districts of BTAD. The meeting welcomed the decision to hand over the investigation into the violent incidents and brutal killings to the NIA and requested the State government to extend adequate compensation to the affected people,� said the statement.

The APCC has also appealed to the people of all sections to maintain peace and amity.

�The meeting urged upon the State government to seize the illegal arms available with the miscreants immediately and provide security to the people living in the remotest villages,� it said.
