By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Aug 26 - The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Ripun Bora today warned the government against saffronising the State education system. He also warned against any attempt at naming the States educational institutions after RSS leaders.

Addressing a meeting of the State unit of the National Students' Union of India here today, Bora said the proposal to set up model colleges in the State was adopted during the rule of the Congress-led previous government in the State. The Congress would oppose tooth and nail any move to name these colleges after RSS ideologue Dindayal Upadhyaya, he said.

Assam Congress Legislature Party leader Debabrata Saikia and former State Education Minister Sarat Barkotoky focused on the roles played by the NSUI in the student politics of the country.

New president of the State NSUI Jyoti Bikash Changmai made an appeal to the student community to stand against the anti-people policies of the BJP-led government in the State and at the Centre.
