GUWAHATI, July 9 � Assam Olympic Association (AOA) congratulated ace archer Jayanta Talukdar for selection to the 2012 London Olympics.
Jayanta earned an Olympic quota place from the men�s individual recurve event of the Archery World Championship at Turin, in Italy yesterday. He is the third Assam sportsperson to earn an Olympic berth after T Ao and Dipankar Bhattacharyya.
Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, who is also the president of AOA and State Forest Minister Rokybul Hussain, secretary AOA congratulated Jayanta for his achievement on behalf of State Olympic body and offered Rs 50,000 to the archer for preparing himself for the London Games, informed AOA joint secretary Pradip Kumar Hazarika.
