Anup Lahoty tennis tourney concludes

GUWAHATI, Jan 7 � Alok Tripathi from Goodricke Group Limited clinched the men�s singles title defeating Shiv Kumar Prajapti from Guwahati 2-6, 6-2, 10-6 in the final of 17th Anup Lahoty-India Club Open Tennis Championship, organised by India Club, held under the auspices of All Assam Tennis Association (AATA), at the India Club courts today. In the boy�s singles (U-18) Arnab Jan Lahkar of Duliajan won the title beating Raunak Bora of Guwahati 6-2, 6-4 while in the boy�s (U-14) Anurag Buragohain annexed the title defeating Pratik Hazarika 6-2, 6-1 in the final. In the boys� (U-12) Debanga Pratim Hazarika bagged the title defeating Arunesh Bora 4-1, 4-1 in the final.

In the girls� U-12 section Kristi Boro clinched the title defeating Ishika Chakma 4-2, 4-2 while in the girls� U-14 category Janashree Saikia bagged the title beating Harshita Bora of Dibrugarh 4-0, 4-2 in the final.

In the men�s doubles Tutu Thapa/Sudhanta Mohanty of NFRSA won the title beating Alok Tripathy/Suman Debnath 2-6, 7-6, 10-5 while in the senior men�s doubles (above 35) Bedanta Buragohain/Gaurav Chowdhury lifted the title getting the better of Debajit Chalia/Rajiv Bora 6-2, 6-3.

Aditya Choudhory and Sinung Langkam were adjudged as most promising players in boys� and girls� categories respectively.

In the closing function, anchored by Tournament Director Kalyan K Das, prizes to the winners and runners-up were distributed by Sashi Prava Das, Prasanta Das, Anupam Chowdhury, Rajib Kumar Bhattacharya, Arup Das, Renu Lahoty, Subodh Mimani and Ankush Dutta. Organising secretary Anupam Chowdhury offered the vote of thanks.
