Anti-CAA protest continues at Sivasagar

SIVASAGAR, Dec 24 - Pronobjit Chaliha, popularly known as Ramuda among the people and a prominent leader of the Assam Agitation, came out openly in support of the movement against CAA today. Addressing a rally at Sivasagar Boarding field, he severely criticised the Sonowal government for allegedly unleashing a rein of terror to subdue the popular movement.

Referring to his son Shrinkhal Chaliha�s arrest in Dibrugarh in connection with the ongoing protest movement, Chaliha said that the restraint the government expects from the public is measurably lacking in the Ministers for they have killed five youths so far. He recounted the days when the Congress government arrested and tortured him while he led the Assam Movement from the front.

Basanta Gogoi,vice-president, ATASU, said that the democratic movement will continue peacefully till it can attract attention of the UN.

The meet was also addressed among others by MI Bora, Parash Das, Junmoni Devi Khound, advocate, Gauhati High Court, Sarat Hazarika, education secretary, AASU.
