Anomalies alleged in mandal appointments

By Correspondent

MORIGAON, Nov 4 - Serious anomalies were reported in the process of recruitment of 24 mandals in the Revenue Department in Morigaon district, causing widespread concern among the local people.

The eligible candidates for the posts of 24 mandals in a press release alleged that the outgoing Deputy Commissioner, Morigaon Hemen Das had declared the result of examination, interview etc., and selected candidates and appointed 24 candidates on his last official day at Morigaon i.e., on November 3. The deprived eligible candidates alleged that violating all norms, the outgoing DC appointed some candidates who had not qualified in the Main Mandal Examination held on September 15.

Moreover, out of 24 candidates, seven posts were reserved for women, but only two women were appointed. The eligible candidates alleged that there were underhand dealings in this appointment process. The eligible candidates questioned as to how some people were selected and appointed on the same day without police and medical verification. The eligible candidates will challenge the whole process in the Gauhati High Court, the press release added.
