Annual conference of Assam Brahman Samaj at Belsor on May 12, 13

TIHU, May 2 - Under the auspices of the greater Belsor Anchalik Brahman Samaj, the first annual Belsor conference of the Assam Brahman Samaj and the eighth biennial sitting of Nalbari Zila Brahman Samaj will be held at the premises of Billeswar Devalay, Belsor in Nalbari district on May 12 and 13. For the purpose, a strong reception committee has been formed with Kanak Ch Sarma as the president, Pramod Mishra as the working president and Nabajyoti Mishra as the general secretary.

On the opening day, Amulya Nath Sarma, president of Nalbari Zila Brahman Samaj, will hoist the district flag which will be followed by smriti tarpan offered by Kanak Ch Sarma, president of the reception committee. The delegates� and subject selection meeting will be inaugurated by Bipul Boro, OC of Belsor Police Station. The open meeting and souvenir release function will be inaugurated by Ashok Sarma, MLA of Nalbari LAC, while Chandra Mohan Patowary, Industry Minister; Dr Dinamani Bhagabati, Professor, Nalbari College; and Hargobinda Sarma, retired Principal of Sarthebari HS School; will attend the function as the chief guest, appointed guest and distinguished guest respectively. The souvenir Brahmashri will be released by Dr Thaneswar Sarma, Professor of Gauhati University. The other programmes of the day will include the opening of the delegates� camp (Assam Brahman Samaj) by Siladitya Chetia, SP of Nalbari, while the delegates� meeting will be inaugurated by Sanjib Kr Das, DC of Nalbari.

The second day�s programme will begin with the unfurling of the State flag by Sunil Kr Goswami, presidentof the state body, followed by smriti tarpan by Girish Ch Dev Goswami, working president. At 9 am, the cultural procession will be flagged off by Ranjit Mishra.

The open meeting to be held on May 13 at 10 am will be attended by Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Finance, Health and PWD Minister as the chief guest, while the other dignitaries will be Rohini Ballav Goswami, chief advisor, Assam Brahman Samaj; Uma Kanta Sarma Shastri, retired Professor, Krishna Kanta Handique Govt Sanskrit College; Anand Prakash Tewari, Managing Director, Assam State Transport Corporation; and Narayan Deka, MLA of Barkshetri LAC.
