Annual Academic Day held at Sainik School Goalpara

GOALPARA, Aug 27 - The annual academic day of Sainik School Goalpara (SSG) for the session 2017-18 was held on Sunday with a solemn function which commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the director of secondary education, Assam, Phanindra Jidung who graced the occasion as the chief guest.

The principal of the school, Capt (IN) Edwin Jothirajan, welcomed the guests and presented the annual report of the school which showcased the school�s accomplishments for the current academic session. This was the followed by a prize distribution ceremony during which the chief guest gave away a number of coveted prizes to the privileged cadets in presence of their parents.

Among the winners Cadet Aaditya Rohan and Cadet Sateesh Kumar, the school toppers of Class XII board examination 2018 were awarded the �Principal�s Gold Medal�. �Vice Principal�s Silver Medal� was bagged by Cadet Manas Protim Kotoky for his excellent performance in Class X board examination 2018. Cadets Manas Protim Kotoky, SK Salim Aktar Ahmed and Satyam Kumar received prizes for �Best in Mathematics in AISSE�.

The �Ashirbad Trophy�, instituted for the highest scorer in Assamese in AISSE was bagged by Cadet Bhaskar Jyoti Kalita. �Certificates of Merit� were given to 22 academic toppers of the school from classes VI to XII whereas, prizes for excellence in various co-curricular activities were given to another 35 cadets. The prestigious rolling trophies for the �Best Performance in House Academics� were clinched by Udaygiri House, Aniruddha House and Bhaskar House in senior, junior and sub-junior categories respectively.

The prestigious �NDA� trophy and the �Best in English Debate� trophy were bagged by Lachit House. The most alluring �Cock House� trophies for the session were lifted by Lachit House and Chilarai House in senior and junior categories respectively.

Finally, �The Best SSGian� trophy for the session was awarded to Cadet Hirok Jyoti Talukdar, the ex-school captain, who has joined the National Defence Academy recently.

The chief guest congratulated the prize winners and also exhorted others to remain focused on their goals. He lauded the measures initiated by the school and the dedicated efforts put in by the staff towards scaling greater heights in the future.

The day concluded with a spectacular cultural extravaganza presented by the school cadets for the parents and audience. The programme ended with the school prayer by vice principal, Lt Col ADS Jasrotia.
