SHILLONG, March 4 � A member of a new militant outfit from Garo Hills � Achik National Liberation Central Army (ANLCA) - today surrendered with arms and ammunition before the East Khasi Hills district police here.
Charles D Shira, a member of the ANLCA surrendered before the East Khasi Hills district Superintendent of Police, M Kharkrang with an AK-56 rifle, a magazine, a .32 pistol and several rounds of ammunition.
Kharkrang added that Shira joined the outfit in January this year, but he deserted the camp located inside the jungle in Dagal area, North Garo Hills a week ago. Shira, however, hails from Shallang in West Khasi Hills district bordering Garo Hills.
�We would be sending a proposal to the government for the rehabilitation of Shira under some package so that he could lead a normal life,� Kharkrang said.
On the other hand, another �top ANLCA� cadre, Rex Briller R Marak was arrested by the special operation team of the police here in the State capital.
