GUWAHATI, Nov 6 - Andy Thaosen clinched the boy�s U-12 title while Kritanta Sarma walked away with the U-14 boy�s title of the 1st Guwahati Open Sub-Junior Tennis Championship organised by the Guwahati Lawn Tennis Association at the Nurul Amin Tennis Complex courts in RG Baruah Sports Complex here today.
In the boy�s singles U-12 category final, Andy Thaosen got the better of Aakhzar N Rahman 6-1, 6-1 while in the boy�s singles U-14 final Kritanta Sarma registered a 1-6, 7-5, 6-3 victory over Hrykpb Bora to lift the title.
On the other hand, Tanishqa Patar emerged champion in the U-12 girl�s category defeating Anannya Jamir 4-2, 2-4, 4-1 while Justina Borgohain defeated Areena Phukan 6-1, 5-7, 7-6 (7-4) to annex the girl�s U-14 title.
In the closing function, former State tennis champions Ashok Das, Kalyan Kumar Das and veteran tennis player Dipak Kumar Das along with Pranay Bordoloi, sports enthusiastic and Dipak Dayani of Delux Sports were felicitated. Ashok Das, Dipak Kumar Das, Kalyan Kumar Das, Anirban Das, Pranay Bordoloi, Bhaskar Sarma, Nabajyoti Kalita and Dilip Pathak gave away the prizes. Rajnish Sarma and Taniya Kumar were adjudged the Best Promising Players of the tournament.
