Andrews visit opposed

By Correspondent

DIMAPUR, April 29 The Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) has voiced its opposition to the proposed visit of Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, to Nagaland on May 1.

In a press note issued, the outfit said as the Imperial power from 16th to 20th century, the British Government had stated very clearly that the Nagas were not Indians and their country was not a part of India.

But on your departure from your South Asian Empire in 1947, your government dissected Naga country into two pieces and gave them as if presents to Burma (Myanmar) and India, it said.

Stating that for the past 62 years (19472012), Naga people have suffered the consequences of the betrayal in blood and tears, the FGN said it strongly opposes the Princes visit to Nagaland to affirm that Nagaland is a part of India. Please take note of our protest that your visit is not welcome, the release said.
