DIBRUGARH, July 4 - The ancient scriptures and other holy books can help bring about calm and peace in the society, said the Satradhikaar of Sri Sri Auniati Satra, Dr Pitambar Deva Goswami. He was speaking at length on the present day morass in the society and how morality and civility could be restored.
Dr Pitambar Deva Goswami was the chief speaker at a function to commemorate the 105th birth anniversary of former Assam Assembly Speaker, Ramesh Chandra Barooah. The function was held on June 30 at the Garden Treat campus here. The function was organised by the RC Barooah Memorial Committee.
On the occasion, two senior citizens of the town were felicitated by the committee. They were � Trailukya Nath Duarah and Prasanta Bordoloi. The former was felicitated for his contribution to the development of sports and sporting activity, while the latter was feted for his activities in the cultural field.
The function was chaired by committee�s working president, Bhudev Phukan. Those in attendance included tea planter and literary activist Debi Prasad Bagrodia, centenarian and former Assam minister, Indreswar Khound, tea community leader Paban Singh Ghatowar, and local leading citizens Ashim Kumar Dutta, Sharif Ahmed and others. Anil Dowerah offered the vote of thanks.
