Anand Kumar urges Govt to develop public education system

By City Correspondent

GUWAHATI, Aug 5 - The education system in India is today divided into two parts. One part is for the poor section which lacks proper basic facilities. The other part is for the rich where five star schools and colleges are available for students. So, I want to urge the government to develop the public education system, so that children from underprivileged section can access good education.

This observation was made by the countrys distinguished educationist Anand Kumar during an interactive programme held at the Anuradha Cineplex here today as part of a free screening of the film Super-30.

The interactive programme was organised by the Universal Team for Social Action and Help (UTSAH) in collaboration with the Assam State Social Welfare Board, the Sapient Consultancy and the Assam State Transport Corporation. Around 140 children from slum areas and the children shelter home run by the Assam State Child Protection Society were present during the programme.

Super-30 is a 2019 biographical film in Hindi directed by Vikas Bahl, based on the life of Anand Kumar and his educational programme Super-30 which provides free coaching for IIT-JEE entrance examinations to poor students of the country. The film stars Hrithik Roshan and Mrunal Thakur.

Speaking on the occasion, Kumar said that the aim of the film is not only to entertain the audience, rather, it portrays the struggle of some people to achieve success in life which will encourage many youths of the country.

The stories got shape before me after a large number of students coming from the underprivileged section of society achieved immense success. Some of them are now top-level scientists and senior officials of worlds top companies, Kumar said.

Expressing his wish to do something for Assam, Kumar said, I will be happy if I get a chance to start any educational initiative here. Today I am very happy to be here, because people of Assam understand the value of the film. Its main aim is to encourage children of economically backward section. The film shows how people can do anything with the help of willpower even without having adequate resources and financial backup. Screening of such a film will help the filmmaker achieve his goal.

Speaking to the children present there, he said, You should concentrate on getting conceptual knowledge in every subject and you will surely achieve success in future.
