Amit Shah to launch poll campaign in Mizoram today

AIZAWL, Oct 16 - BJP national president Amit Shah is all set to kick-start his party�s campaign in poll-bound Mizoram here tomorrow.

Mizoram, which goes to polls on November 28, is the final frontier for the saffron party that targets a �Congress-mukt� Northeast India.

He is scheduled to address booth-level workers at the Dengthuama Hall at Mualpui to prepare them for the crucial polls. The Mizoram unit BJP president Prof JV Hluna said Amit Shah would open the party office in Aizawl before addressing booth-level party workers.

�Around 15,000 booth-level workers from across the State will attend the meeting,� he said, adding that a gathering of 15,000 workers is considered huge in Mizoram.

Meanwhile, ruling Congress MLA Buddha Dhan Chakma today tendered his resignation. Chakma is set to join the BJP.

After submitting his resignation letter at the Assembly Secretariat, Chakma submitted his resignation from the primary membership of the Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) at the Congress Bhavan. He was accompanied by State BJP leaders.

The Mizoram BJP president confirmed that Chakma would join the BJP. He will be the BJP candidate from Tuichawng in the Assembly polls,� Hluna said.
