GUWAHATI, April 24 � BJP president Amit Shah will address a public meeting on April 26 at the Veterinary College Ground at Khanapara here. This will be Shah�s first visit to the State after taking charge of the saffron party as the national head.

Briefing media-persons here today about Shah�s forthcoming programme, State BJP president Siddhartha Bhattacharya said that the leader will address the issues crucial to the welfare of Assam.

�This visit has assumed significance as the Assembly poll in Assam is scheduled for 2016. The State BJP is getting ready for the polls and his visit will be an opportunity to discuss our strength and weaknesses,� he said and added that the national leader will be accorded a rousing welcome by party members. �Shah will also attend a meet of party office-bearers and senior BJP leaders and he will also meet prominent citizens from different fields,� informed Bhattacharya.
